Patio furniture, fire pits & shade

A Scottsdale backyard needs shade for summer and warmth for winter evenings.

Furniture for the desert

Look for powder-coated aluminum, teak or all-weather wicker, and fabrics rated for UV. Store cushions in summer to keep them from fading.

Fire pits

Maricopa County restricts wood burning on "No Burn Days" during the cooler months to protect air quality. Gas and propane fire pits are generally allowed on those days, which makes them a popular choice here.

Shade and cooling

Shade sails, umbrellas and patio misters make summer evenings usable.
